How Is Robbery Defined In Arizona?

Arizona law recognizes three kinds of robbery, all of which are felonies:

  • Robbery involves taking someone else's property against their will by using force or threat of force. Being convicted of robbery can lead to a prison sentence of 18 months to 3 years.
  • Aggravated robbery involves committing robbery with the help of another person or persons. Being convicted of aggravated robbery can lead to a prison sentence of 2 to 7 years.
  • Armed robbery involves robbery with the use of a deadly weapon or a simulated deadly weapon. A conviction for armed robbery can result in a prison sentence of 4 to 10 years.

For each of these charges, the penalties increase upon subsequent convictions.

Additionally, robbery is a deportable offense, and green card holders accused of robbery should contact an immigration lawyer as soon as possible. At Sanchez Law Group, we handle the criminal defense and deportation defense for many of our clients. Not every law firm offers both of these services.
